5 /5 Farhana: Food was superb, music was great and the service was lovely. The owners went above and beyond for us, especially Nikki!! We ordered the pounded yam, beef stew and jollof rice and everything was succulent and flavourful. Would for sure come again and would recommend anyone to go!

1 /5 Rashid O: After hearing glowing recommendations about Nikki’s Restaurant, I decided to stop by for lunch after visiting a relative in the nearby hospital. I went in with high expectations and a simple mission: to enjoy my favourite comfort meal — amala with a rich mix of seafood in okro, especially since I’ve cut red meat out of my diet. The service started off reasonably well. My food arrived in about fifteen minutes, which felt promising. Unfortunately, that promise evaporated the moment I tasted the dish. The seafood tasted as if it had been cooked directly in seawater. The saltiness wasn’t just excessive — it was overwhelming to the point of being inedible. The flavour of the okro was completely drowned out, and the entire dish became a struggle rather than a pleasure. I tried to salvage the experience by taking small morsels of the amala and barely touching the sauce, just so I could enjoy the swallow itself, which was actually well made. But even that workaround didn’t last long. I eventually gave up. When I raised the issue with the owner, I was met with an excuse about the seasoning being responsible for the extreme saltiness. I suggested reducing the seasoning or adjusting the salt afterwards, but the response didn’t inspire confidence that anything would change. I paid, left, and made a quiet decision: I won’t be returning to Nikki’s anytime soon. A restaurant can survive many things, but food that is fundamentally unbalanced — especially to this degree — is hard to overlook. With so many places offering well-prepared Nigerian cuisine, diners shouldn’t have to endure a dish that tastes like it was seasoned by Poseidon himself.

5 /5 Ololade Alayaki: I was initially skeptical about this restaurant considering the atmosphere from outside, but due to my pregnancy cravings, hubby persuaded me to try. Were a family of 4 on vacation in London, and this restaurant served the authentic Nigerian food we all desired. My family and I were amused at the taste of all the meals we ordered. My kids enjoyed the Jollof rice while myself and hubby enjoyed the pounded yam and egusi soup, amala, gbegiri with ewedu, and goat meat. My kids insisted that I take some pictures for review before we finished our meal. Although we had to wait longer for our order, it was worth it as all the food tasted fresh and delicious with authentic Nigerian flavor. The owner of the restaurant was also a nice woman who welcomed us pleasantly. It was a real taste of home. We would definitely visit again.

3 /5 Jack Ang: Sat down determined to have the fish pepper soup. However it was not available, which is fine. I got the Jollof rice with beef stew instead and moin moin. Jollof rice was 10 out of 10 delectable satisfaction which really abated my appetite for it. The plantain was disgustingly hard, I left it alone. The beef stew was delicious, however it has tripe in it. Clarified with them that I want only beef and nothing else in my stew yet assorted meats were in it. The owner later asked me to order it specifically as beef only, but I correctedly pointed out that I had indeed specified the kind of meat I want in my stew. Now here comes the dish which ultimately left me disappointed. Moin moin was lacklustre in taste and reeked of not having been prepared freshly. Texture was almost powder-ish. The egg was severely overcooked to a rubber-like consistency. There were no fish bits in it which would have salvaged it somewhat. Overall an experience I would avoid altogether if only I had known. The rave reviews were somewhat misleading. Perhaps I should have tried the egusi and yam type dishes more prominently featured in the reviews instead.
