The Wells Tavern - (Near Camden, South East)

5 /5 Philosopical Wolf: Amazing Gastropub for Lunch Diner and special occasions, especially during hot British summer. Went there last August for friends Brithday dinner and it was amazing for a pub. The Steak was very tender and good portion size, the sause was a bit to strong for me but other wise very good. Went for the apple crumble for desert which I was not a fan off as it was very tart but the wine and cocktails made of for it, very good quality (coming for a bartender) I got their Amerreto Sour (my favourite) and it was smooth and creamy.

5 /5 william richardson: went there Wednesday lunchtime after a walk over the heath with friends. Surprisingly busy for a weekday - good buzz. Food was excellent - I had the venison cottage pie which was great, nice crispy tato topping. My friends had lamb shank which was also good. Chips were proper good, not those thin fries. A couple of decent cask beers on tap too.

2 /5 R P: Let’s be honest - this place is not great. A lot of the reviews appear to be paid/fake, so it is time for a real review that will resonate with anyone who has been here in recent years. The pub trades on its beautiful location and history, but everything else is now bad. A slow but steady deterioration has occurred over a period of about 5 years. The beer is poorly kept (truly awful Pilsner Urquell, worse than at a football match, and mediocre Guinness, all served in the wrong glasses). The service is surly at best. The food is bland. The interiors have not been updated for 15 years. This would have been an acceptable standard for a “gastropub” two decades ago. It is not acceptable today. All Hampstead locals know that it is rubbish, but people keep going because the location is pretty and it’s near the Heath. A sad establishment. We can only hope that it is taken over by new management.

5 /5 Linda McLoon: We decided to have Sunday roast at The Wells Tavern. The pub and outdoor seating was packed (I magic erased all the people). However, we were lead upstairs for our Sunday roast meal. It is night and day different upstairs. It is elegant and quiet. We had a wonderful meal. The liver pate was delicious as was the fresh tomato and burrata salad. And of course, the roast beef was sensational!! I highly recommend dining in the upstairs rooms. I cant speak to the pub, but based on the crowd of people it must be sensational also.
