1 /5 Meg: After coming here for several years, it certainly has taken a turn which is a shame. Arriving at around 11:45, there was hardly no free tables as most of them were reserved for 1:30. After asking if we could sit on a later reserved table out of the draft of the open door we were told we couldn’t. Seems strange as it was over an hour and forty five minutes away from the booking. So we sat on the only free table which still had cups and it took more than a few minutes for them to clear the table, not even wipe it clean and then proceeded to serve a table which was reserved first who came in after us.
The upstairs was closed, but it took them 40 minutes to serve us three dishes which were roughly the same and I’m afraid to say that for nearly £13, the breakfast was poor and not worth the money. It was tepid, one slice of toast that was rock hard and cold with only a tiny bit of butter. Ole sausage, two very underdone pieces of bacon, one chewy sausage as the skin hadn’t been crisped enough and anemic in colour. One whole large tomato, one Portobello mushroom, one egg and some beans. It is poor and I can easily go to locals cafes that have meals for the same price with better quality - not in Thame though as most of the cafes in Thame are dire besides Rumseys. Premium prices for mediocre food, poor service and shabby decor.
