4 /5 jonny lamb: Great customer service but little slow as it was a sunday evening and guessing staffing levels decreased. Nice to find Italian lager on tap and then had the tuscan sausage and fennel pasta. It was very nice. My guest had the coppa cub fish and chips with cide batter but found the fish inside the batter had not been seasoned. Other than this we had a great experience.

5 /5 Sally A: I recently celebrated my birthday at The Great House in Sonning, and honestly, it couldn’t have been more perfect. We booked one of the igloos for a party of five, including two children, and from start to finish the experience was outstanding. Our welcome was so warm and friendly..every member of staff made us feel looked after. A special mention has to go to our lovely and dedicated waitress, Kara. She was amazing from the moment we arrived: attentive, kind, and just an absolute credit to the team. She worked so effortlessly. An absolute star. Also the lovely gentleman who checked us in was equally brilliant, making us feel relaxed and taken care of straight away. The food arrived incredibly fast, and all off our steaks were cooked beautifully — huge credit to the chefs! The mocktails were super tasty too. Everything was just perfect, and it made my birthday feel really special. Thank you to everyone at The Great House for such a wonderful evening. We’ll definitely be back!

3 /5 Toby Paice: We entered the side door and my wife immediately slipped and fell down the step landing on both knees. Not one member of staff came to help/ask if she was ok/check if the step was wet from all the rain. The staff member who sat us at our table seemed to be gently laughing when we approached, we weren’t sure if that was due to seeing the fall or not. The fact we’re not sure means service isn’t where it should be. The food was fine but not worth the money. I had the ox cheek and it came out warm rather than hot. My wife had a lemon tart for dessert and it seemed to have been brûléed which was strange but not unappealing. The wait staff were good, got us everything we asked for and didn’t hover. They brought the bill quickly when we requested it. Overall it was a fine experience. We’d go back for drinks if that was our friends’ preference, but probably won’t return to eat or drink on our own choosing.

5 /5 Turnbull Ian: We popped in for a few cocktails as we were staying locally. Nice well presented bar with lots of casual seating. A good selection of cocktails, all made fresh by the bar staff. A top tip : If you are ordering cocktails then ask for Bella, she is a great mixologist and, by far, the cocktails she served up were the tastiest of the evening.
