4 /5 Jonathan Ho: I visited on a Saturday afternoon and was surprised to find the restaurant quite empty at that time. The Black Dragon Roll was very good — definitely something I’d recommend. The seafood hotpot, however, wasn’t as enjoyable as the broth was overly sweet. The tempura was tasty, though the batter was a bit too heavy and crispy rather than light. The Sakura set was beautifully presented and looked fantastic, but the salmon sashimi was cut too thick and the cuttlefish was a little chewy.
The service was lovely and our waitress was attentive throughout. That said, I would have expected more confidence around allergy information, especially as the menu instructs guests to notify staff. When asked about peanut allergies, the waitress wasn’t entirely sure whether the desserts contained nuts. To her credit, she did bring out the ingredient list, which I appreciated. Still, it would be very helpful if the restaurant had a clear allergen menu available — particularly given that there is also a Covent Garden branch.
