5 /5 Lewis Parker: This place has been a favourite for years. I really dont think you can get a better Indian meal anywhere else. As much as we love their takeaway, its always our personal preference to dine in the beautiful restaurant as much as we can. Service is always top notch, and the menu of both food and drinks is always varied, delicious and reasonably priced. This evening we were served by Zara, who was fantastic! She was working so hard to look after every guest, always with a smile on her face. Shes a credit to the wonderful family at Ruchita. A really unique touch that sets this place apart from any other Indian restaurant in the area is their wide range of Indian gins and whiskies. Definitely worth a browse in their drinks cabinet for an after dinner tipple. Honestly cant speak highly enough of Ruchita. So if you havent been before, book yourself a table and get ready for an amazing meal with the best service.

4 /5 om sh: Service and courtesy was spot on. Table for 2 people was available almost straight away. Called them in advance though. They dont do sweet of qulfee in take away or delivery. And we love the qulfee. Naan were warm and noice. Bit burnt under it. But in taste we didnt notice. Spice level was bit medium. So we asked to spice it up. They added green chilli whole. Raita was really good. Tasted like home made natural yoghurt. Pistachio qulfee was amazing. Mango was okish. coffee was Good. Good experience. Good food . Amazing service.

We’ve been coming to Ruchita occasionally for years, maybe once or twice a year as a local family treat, and have always loved the warm service and homely food. However, for a restaurant that proudly claims it’s “not a business” but “part of the fabric of the community,” with a mission of “keeping people happy and fed,” the reality now feels the opposite — pricing out ordinary local families. Our visit this week left us genuinely taken aback by the cost of our experience. We ordered very modestly — a couple of poppadoms each, one drink each, only three mains and rice shared between four of us (two adults and two young kids), a few sides, and two single-scoop ice creams. The bill came to £111 before tip! Maybe we don’t dine out enough to have become used to today’s prices, but even allowing for inflation, that feels steep for what was a simple family meal. The food was tasty and the service friendly, but the overall cost felt more high-end than homely. Ruchita’s story talks about family, fairness, and serving the local community — and that’s what’s always made it special. I really hope it can find its way back to being that accessible local gem again, because it still has all the heart — just not quite the value it once did.
