Food is OK. Due to next to no competition in this small town, the quality of Indian food available is low.
Compare this to London where you can find Michelin star Indian restaurants for example, or excellent normal ones.
There wasnt too much oil in the dishes, and everything was cooked well. Veggies were overcooked and mushy.
Tasted OK overall. Chicken dish tasted good but lacked heat. Sliced green chillies were placed on top, but werent cooked. Just raw. One hadnt been sliced so I got a mouthful of intense heat.
Chicken jalfrezi had no visible peppers in it. The dish is meant to have it. Every Indian in this town is doing this. Not OK. Portion was small.
Still, I rate this dish. It was good in taste.
My bowel movements were affected negatively, but it doesnt seem to be food poisoning. Still have part of the meal to eat which Ive put in the fridge for later.
Naan loaded with sugar which is unhealthy and gross. Plain naan became hard fast, perhaps due to a lack of butter on top? Dont know.
I called before to ask about delivery and help with dish selection but I couldnt hear the guy well, so had to ask multiple times what he was saying.
I suspect it was the owner. He quickly became aggressive in tone because I kept asking him to repeat as I couldnt make out what he was saying. Not good.
At first I thought it was the line, but after he got aggressive he seemed to reposition the phone in his anger. I could hear him clearer. It may also be the way he talks isnt very clear. Whether that be genetics and thats just how his voice is, or something else, I dont know.
Overall, I would recommend, only because theres no other decent Indian in town, and the only good one, is now permanently closed due to retirement.
Otherwise, if you can, research and pick a good one in London. Also I think Canterbury has a Michelin star Indian. Need to research and eat there still.
Hygiene rating is 4 star. Sadly its the highest in this town. The other two Indians are 3 star and havent been inspected for a long time.
Also, I think every restaurant should have a fully open/visible kitchen and all food storage areas. This would ensure hygiene compliance at all times.
A la turka here in town for example, has a open kitchen, but no open storage areas.
Delivery guy just stood there when I opened the door with the safety chain on. He didnt say a word. Just stood there. Had to ask if it was the takeaway, which I shouldnt have to for security reasons. He should have explained who he is and from what restaurant when I opened the door.
Update 25th Feb. I have very mild diarrhea from eating from here. So you can decide if you want to eat from here or not.
