5 /5 Richard Wilson: We decided to eat here for lunch after seeing the reviews for Sen Viet Quan. When we arrived, we managed to get the last available table, while people behind us were asked to return later. This was on a Monday, and the restaurant was pretty much full between 12pm and 2pm and then quietened down after that.
They offer an extensive menu and we ordered prawn crackers, a classic beef Pho, a prawn & mango salad, and salt & pepper prawns. The service was a little slow, but this reflected the fact that the place was full, and plenty of dishes were coming out of the kitchen at regular intervals.
The prawn crackers were crispy, but my one comment would be that the dipping sauce was very small relative to the number of crackers. My Pho was a hearty size, and the beef was tender. Spice wise, it was about right for my palate, although for those preferring a hotter experience there were plenty of condiments, like chill oil and paste, that were available on the table. The prawn & mango salad was spicy, but not overly so, and was full of authentic Vietnamese flavours. The salt and pepper prawns were a little overcooked, but nevertheless added nicely to our other selections.
Prices here were very reasonable, and we shall be coming back for lunch here at a future date.
