5 /5 karma wall: We’ve driven past this Pub on many occasion & always meant to give it a try.
A friend recently went & it spurred us on to book a table for Sunday lunch.
The atmosphere is warm & inviting as soon as you open the door , the bar staff & waiting/service staff are friendly , efficient & completely in control without being overbearing. Even a simple thing like ensuring the coffee was served after the dessert had been, was a small but very much appreciated touch.
And the menu & food , well I’ll let the pictures do most of the talking.
The potted smoked mackerel was delicious & light , you could make it as rich as you desired with the butter it was ensconced in.
The pickles were delicate but gave just the right acidity.
The main courses were the highlight for me , every element tasting of what it actually was , so often potatoes just taste of the fat they are cooked in , & vegetables are over adorned with extras that mask the flavour of the real vegetable.
Not here though , everything was cooked & seasoned to perfection.
The huge Yorkshire pudding had just the right amount of chew , the Beef soft with a small layer of flavourful fat , & the gravy plentiful & top notch.
Dessert was a Guinness chocolate fondant , with malt butterscotch & clotted cream ice cream … a melt in the middle fondant.
Honestly , every mouthful joyful.
I’m not often as effusive or wordy with reviews (& I said I’d let the pictures do the talking)
But at this price point , & with the attention to detail (from staff to food) , it would be a crime not to share the delight it brought us.
Do go , you won’t be disappointed.
Thank you team , every one of you brilliant
