forno

FORNO - Hackney

Rating: 4.4 /5
Fedi C When I feel nostalgic of home or I want a nice sweet treat, FORNO is my go to bakery. The Veneziana pastry is my top favourite , paired with the perfect jasmine tea. I tried the TiramisĂą which it was ok, the savoiardi should be soaked in a bit more coffee imo, coz I could barely taste it, but the layer of mascarpone is super generous. Yum! I like the general vibe of the place, staffs have always been nice too.

Survivor - Caribbean Restaurant - Hackney

Rating: 3.8 /5
Soph My favourite Caribbean takeaway in the area. I visit here once a month and enjoy everything on the menu! Food is tasty and portions are generous. The prices are fair and Im always satisfied. Staff are really friendly and its handy that there is a seating area and tables to eat. The only downfall is there is restricted Street parking.

BronzeLibra03 A pleasant spontaneous find! We enjoyed the beef tacos, chicken and waffles and a good juicy beef burger, we specifically asked to not have a smashed burger and they kindly catered for us! The music is so fun and lively, playing from a record player with a cactus on top! Sylvia was a great host and all the staff were friendly and helpful! Portion sizes were great too!
behind restaurant

Behind Restaurant - Hackney

Rating: 4.7 /5
Eric Chan We went to Behind for a special occasion, and honestly, it delivered exactly what I hoped it would, and then some. It’s Michelin starred, but it doesn’t feel stiff or intimidating, which I really appreciated. The fish focused tasting menu was genuinely spectacular. Every course felt thoughtful and confident, clean flavours, beautifully cooked, nothing trying too hard to show off. You can tell this is a kitchen that knows exactly what it’s doing. It’s absolutely worthy of its star, no question. Credit where it’s due to Chef Andy Beynon, the cooking here feels calm, assured, and very intentional. I really liked the open kitchen setup. There’s a nice energy in the room, you can see the team working, but it never feels chaotic or distracting. It actually adds to the experience and makes the whole place feel more alive. We did the wine pairing and I’m glad we did. The selections were spot on, and the sommelier explained each wine in a way that was clear and engaging without being pretentious or overbearing. It flowed naturally with the meal and elevated the whole experience. Overall, this is a great spot for a date or an anniversary. Refined but relaxed, special without being stuffy. One of those meals you leave feeling quietly impressed rather than overwhelmed, and that, to me, is exactly what a great restaurant should do.
