1 /5 Sabri Dönmez: As someone who genuinely loves coffee, I notice the small things and unfortunately this experience got off on the wrong foot straight away.
We ordered takeaway coffees, but they were made in ceramic cups. When the mistake was spotted, the coffee was poured from the ceramic cup into a takeaway cup instead of being remade. That might seem minor to some, but from a coffee point of view, it’s a big red flag: you lose texture, temperature balance, and the drink just isn’t the same. It’s the sort of thing that suggests the fundamentals are being missed.
What stood out, though, was that the service staff handled the situation really well. They noticed we weren’t happy, asked the right question and kindly offered to remake both drinks, which we appreciated.
Sadly, the remade coffees came back extremely hot, with milk that tasted scorched. And if you care about coffee, you know that’s where the whole drink falls apart. It felt less like a proper remake and more like a rushed correction or maybe punishment.
Mistakes happen in any café and that’s fine. But when you go somewhere hoping to properly enjoy your coffee, you do expect a certain level of care from the barista. On this visit, that care just wasn’t there.
