2 /5 Stephanie Diezmann: Disappointing, unfortunately. We were very excited to see a Mexican restaurant but there is very little Mexican about this place.
The staff are fabulous and very attentive, the atmosphere is fun, and the whole place is really well decorated and nice feeling.
But the food let us down. We had three appetizers. Aqua Chile, which would have benefited from more lime as it was supposed to be ceviche. Cream Cheese Jalapenos, which were breaded and fried cream cheese pieces containing only tiny amounts of Jalapeno rather than being a stuffed Jalapeno as promised on the menu. And the Chicharron, which were definitely the star of the evening but who puts corn into guacamole? The mains were really not worth it. The seafood paella (Paella Ensenada) was supposed to be made with prawns, mussels, salmon and white fish according to the menu. The dish contained exactly one piece of salmon, the mussels were overcooked and there were some unidentifiable pieces of seafood in there that looked rather sad, maybe some octopus (no idea). The rice was dry and lacking seasoning. It felt and tasted like a freezer isle product.
We passed on dessert but I wonder what brownie and cheese cake are doing on a Mexican dessert menu when there are so many other excellent options.
