Ela Gorla Vel is one of my favourite restaurants in Brighton and one of the best South Indian restaurants I ever tried. I spent 5 months in South India in 2024 so when I moved to Brighton I was desperate to find a place where I could enjoy authentic South Indian food and I’m thrilled I discovered Vel. The food tastes exactly like the food I used to eat in India and the staff is very friendly. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for true Indian flavours.

A W Amazing experience I was greeted by the owner with a smile and positive energy we laughed and spoke about her food. The food is amazing, Ive attached a pic so you guys can see the madness. The good taste like home cooking Eva is lovely and it reflects in her cooking. Relaxing atmosphere. Please guys visit you won’t be disappointed.

K I So glad I stopped by this place, the food is absolutely delicious! The mutton curry had meat coming off the bone easily, very flavourful, generous portions, good drink selection and whatever you do, you MUST get some doubles. My new favourite spot!

Courtney Yotter An absolute wonderful experience with Niamh! She was incredibly attentive and helpful, managed all of our dietary options well and made amazing recommendations. Other staff were very nice. I was impressed with the diversity of options on the menu. The atmosphere is definitely English countryside grandmas kitchen, and you feel like youre in someones home in the best way. Also the location is great for a day making around London. The only thing I would note is the kitchen does make everything to order. For a group of six we budgeted 2 hours to eat lunch and we should have budgeted 2.5hrs.
