3 /5 Monir Ali: Review: Duck Curry with Chaler Roti
I recently tried the duck curry with chaler roti, and the presentation immediately stood out. The meal was served in beautiful, traditional Bangladeshi clay pots and plates, which added an authentic and homely touch to the dining experience. The rustic setup alone made the dish feel special.
The duck curry itself was rich, aromatic, and full of depth, but it was a bit too zaal (spicy) for my personal taste. Those who enjoy a strong kick of heat may love it, but I found it slightly overpowering.
The chaler roti, while soft and decent in texture, wasn’t freshly made on-site. It was clearly heated from frozen, which took away from the freshness that usually elevates a good curry-and-roti combo.
On the positive side, the meal was reasonably priced, especially considering the portion size and the effort put into presentation.
Overall, a visually delightful and flavorful dish, with room for improvement in spice balance and freshness of the roti.
