1 /5 Sophia Olad: I recently dined at Choice and came away with mixed feelings. While the Somali food showcased some authentic flavors, the overall experience was a bit of a rollercoaster.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by a rather grumpy owner who didn’t seem very welcoming. However, our spirits were lifted by the young Somali chef, who was friendly and eager to share his culinary passion with us. Our waiter was an absolute gem—his warmth and attentiveness made our visit enjoyable, especially for my children, who adored him.
As for the food, I found it to be somewhat overhyped. While the Somali dishes had good quality and were flavorful, I must caution future diners: avoid visiting in the evening. The quality seemed to drop significantly, and I’ve heard reports of food safety issues that could lead to food poisoning.
In summary, if youre looking for a taste of Somali cuisine, you might find some gems here, but be aware of the timing of your visit. The service staff was wonderful, but the inconsistent food quality leaves much to be desired.
