The Owl - (Near , london)

3 /5 A google user: Group of four for a Sunday roast. Honest review, it was just ok. Having driven past this place a number of times, we thought wed finally give it a go. The food was pleasant but nothing to write home about; Ive had better and Ive had worse (the yorkshire pudding was delicious, however the potatoes were seemingly cooked in the heat of the moment - not at all crisp). The food was also quite expensive for what you get. Although, looking at other pubs in the area, £20+ for a main seems to be fairly standard pricing these days. The service, however, was PAINFULLY slow. Two hours for two courses was beginning to test the limit of my patience, and that was even after having ordered our mains almost as soon as we sat down (when we were the only people in the restaurant), and then asking for the bill with dessert. We were at the point of wanting to cancel our desserts when they finally started to arrive, and even then they somehow still came out at different times (and more bizarrely, mine was only lukewarm). That aside, the staff themselves were friendly, polite and apologetic. Perhaps they were just short staffed that day. The decor was quite pleasant and the vast majority of the customers were happily (and quietly) chatting amongst themselves. Unfortunately though at one point I had to ask the group of tracksuit/baseball cap clad gentlemen behind us to stop swearing in front of my children (which, to their credit, they then did, but thats not the point). In summary, the Owl is ok, but I wont be rushing back.

5 /5 Dante Chiappetta: First time coming to the Owl. Nice looking pub/restaurant inside and out. The welcome and service from the waitress was great. The chef cooked us a delicious meal, which was also reasonably priced. I would recommend giving the Owl a try, I know I will definitely be returning to the Owl in the near future.

5 /5 Jack hebberd: We went to the owl for a family Christmas meal and it was great. The pub was very nicely decorated which made it feel very festive. Service was quick and friendly, no long waits in-between course. The food was the main highlight, I had Christmas dinner, it was a great portion size, very tasty and piping hot. We will defiantly going back and highly recommend. Thank you to Anna and the team.

5 /5 Wayne Fontaine: Front of the house has wonderful hospitality, kudos to them. Furthermore, huge compliments to the chefs who did an amazing job. The food was exquisite, quite tasty. Nowhere is perfect, especially in a busy season so do have patience if its taking a bit of time. Its worth the wait and you can tell by the atmosphere that the staff cares and the food is good! Highly recommend. #Try the Hamhock, Egg & Chips. Wayne
