4 /5 Richard Johnstone: Known by the locals as the DB Arms, this popular friendly relaxed pub has a good atmosphere and vibe. You cannot book, and it is always busy, with people sat outside 12months of the year (they have good heaters). However, its worth going early and getting a table.
I would say its more a food pub, than just a pub. The menu is comforting classics and the quality is very good.
We went in early December and late January. Both times we shared a large table, as it was busy (unsurprisingly) and had a lovely evening.
In December we chose beef stew and steak. The stew was fantastic (photo does not do it justice), rich in flavour with tender meat, and came with a bone marrow on the side. The crumble for desert was also good. In January we chose mushroom risotto and pork steak with peam garlic and cabbage mash. Both very good.
Great beers and wine choice too.
