Need Street Food at The Merchant House - (Near Isle of Wight, South East)

1 /5 Apex HD: Food looked absolutely amazing when I first received it was very excited to try this, I got the tex mex fries, double bennys burger and brisket mac was impressed by the fries they were okay, definetly could’ve been bigger portions especially for the price I paid £8 only receiving very small pieces of pork belly, that’s debatable. The brisket mac and cheese was outrageously plain and bland, the only thing that made it edible was the small pieces of brisket on it which I was surprised to receive that much knowing that I paid a tenner for it which is quite outrageous I had received less than a teaspoon of brisket on my mac which was very disappointing and questioned why I paid a tenner essentially for a bland mac and cheese which was marketed as having four cheese blend but I couldn’t even taste that. Onto the burger now I didn’t think at first it would be that bad and go downhill but it did, this burger tasted like scraps of cardboard I took multiple bites hoping that I would get to the good part but there is no good part with that burger again it was completely bland and plain there was 0 flavouring with that burger and 0 sauces I looked around the bag looking for the sauce for the burger but there was none and even if there was it wouldn’t save this disgrace for a burger I was truly disappointed, I had spent £30 on complete rubbish was looking forward to this but was completely disappointed my suggestion for you guys would be to please incorporate some seasoning into your food please even a pinch of salt would do I couldn’t even detect any of that in my food today. Presentation wise it was perfect but the presentation doesn’t live up to the taste.

1 /5 Vicki Gillespie: What a disappointment! Just received two burgers and rosemary salted fries. Not only did the food arrive cold, the overall quality of the burgers has gone down so much so, we could not (despite trying) finish these. Need Street Food used to a be a reliable go to in Southsea. What’s more disappointing is someone is allowing these orders to go out! The price is daylight robbery for such suboptimal food. Sadly, I would not encourage or recommend using this restaurant at their current standards.

5 /5 Sophie Rainbird: Pete and Need Street Kitchen absolutely blew us away! We’ve never experienced such outstanding service and exceptional food at a wedding—or any event, for that matter. From the moment we first connected with Pete, we knew we were in for something special. He took the time to understand our vision and delivered a culinary experience that exceeded all expectations. The food was nothing short of spectacular. Every guest raved about how it was hands down the best wedding food they’d ever had, with many saying it was the highlight of the evening. The flavors, presentation, and creativity were on another level. Pete truly has a gift for making food that not only tastes amazing but also resonates with the crowd. But what really sets Pete apart is his commitment to going above and beyond. Despite it not being part of their job, he and his team took it upon themselves to clear tables, making sure everything was spotless and stress-free for us. And when our ice cream vendor couldn’t make it at the last minute, Pete saved the day by personally getting ice cream for all our guests. This act of kindness speaks volumes about his dedication and professionalism. Pete was a joy to work with—always smiling, approachable, and genuinely invested in making our day perfect. The food tasting before the wedding was just a glimpse of the amazing experience we would have, and we were blown away on the actual day. Need Street Kitchen is in a league of its own, and Pete is an absolute superstar. We would eat here again and again, and we cant recommend them highly enough to anyone looking for world-class wedding catering!

5 /5 Lloyd Emery: BOOM, after seeing this food all over my social media I had to get down there, and boy did it deliver. The chicken burger was juicy, crispy and hot (buffalo sauce) and packed with slaw and pickles. It was messy, but in an excellent way. You literally have to dive in and forget yourself for a moment to enjoy it to the fullest; large bites getting all that flavour. Alongside I had the burnt end fries; a beefy, slawy mix with BBQ sauce on top of fries. Again very tasty and a HUGE portion. Unless youre very hungry, Id suggest sharing these fries with your burgers/dogs as your main. They would also suffice as a main dish. The chef was attentive and took pleasure in hearing our feedback on our food, that was a nice touch. All eaten in the lovely surroundings of the Merchant House; well decorated and airy space especially in the summer months when the large doors are all open. 5 /5 Mi Bo: We had a great evening here. The service is very friendly and helpful. The food is really tasty. The burgers could just be a bit bigger. We will definitely come back.
