2 /5 Frank: Food taste is ok, nothing special, not the worst either. Portions are absolutely tiny, not even suitable for a child. Very very stingy. You literally need to order 5 mains per person plus 3 starters per person to feel satisfied. You probably need to spend £130-150 per person in order to have a normal sized dinner. Not justifiable as the food is not fine dining. If you want fine dining go to Gymkhana (before the owner tells me I dont know proper food, I have had Gymkhana, which is more like fine dining). Service is reasonable though, the lady was attentive and friendly. Wouldnt go again as not fantastic taste and portions are suitable for a 1 year old baby rather than an adult. Shame as I was expecting more from a place that claims to be authentic. Ultimately didnt order more as the food was sub-par.

1 /5 Aundrieux Sankofa: ZERO Stars. Despite high prices suggesting a quality experience, the food was extremely disappointing. I have had better microwaves & uber takaways for less than 1/4 the price. After a wonderful theatre show at the Eventim Apollo, we chose this restaurant for convienience next door, hoping to end a long-awaited theatre evening we had saved up for with a nice dining experience. A treat for our retired mother with the intent of making a memorable moment for her. Begining with my request that the restaurant was COLD (This has been noted by previous reviewers) my comment was met with an offended rebuttle that the heating was on. It felt not. Sitting in a cold restaurant with my family. The 2nd red flag, my Masala Chai tea was served to me in a cardboard takaway cup! before I requested a real tea cup to the proprietors surprise. The food was served warm, of questionable freshness, with both the butter chicken and chicken tikka lacking spices and blandly tasting like tomato purée sauce, portions very steep. The dark grubby basement toilet, located uncomfortably close to the kitchen, were poorly maintained & worryingly unclean, partly patched up with heavily soiled duck tape. Overall, it was a total let-down and a disappointing end to an otherwise beautiful theatre day out. I wish an unsatisfied review came with a refund. We felt robbed of our hard earnt cash. It felt like a money grab in exchange for less than half-hearted cleanliness, service & food. FOLLOW UP RESPONSE TO A DISHONEST MANAGEMENT REPLY: The owners response attempts to defensively undermine the true sequence of events in a way that lacks integrity and trust. For clarity, here are the facts: • We did not at all “request a takaway" nor say "were in a hurry” The reservation was pre-booked for 4 in advance (evidence added to photos). • Food was ordered, eaten and paid for from a selection of the menu. Contrary to the untruth that "food that was never ordered, nor consumed" (proof of receipt added in photos). I regularly review restaurants internationally and almost without exception leave inspired 5-star reviews. I have never posted a warning. Doing so here felt necessary so others can make an informed decision before spending their hard-earned money. If you’ve read this review upto here - including the dismissive tone of management’s response. You will be able to decide for yourself whether this is somewhere you wish to dine. I wish you well with that choice.

1 /5 Nick Z: Reply to the response from the restaurant I appreciate your response, but I’d like to clarify a few points. Firstly, our plates were not empty—the chilli chicken wasn’t finished, the rice and vindaloo were barely touched, and there was still fish pakora left. It’s quite common for diners to be polite when asked about their meal, but that doesn’t mean the food was enjoyable. Secondly, regarding the service charge, I did not cause a scene. I simply questioned the charge, which—despite what you claim—is not legally compulsory in the UK. You did not state at any point it was compulsory. The other diners in the restaurant (just one other couple) agreed that customers have the right to refuse a service charge. In fact, I personally apologised to them for the situation. You also failed to address my other key complaint—the temperature of the restaurant. It was so cold that my wife kept her coat on throughout the meal, and despite being told the heating would be adjusted, nothing changed. Lastly, if you look at my Google review history, you’ll see that I rarely complain. In fact, this was the first time in years that I refused to pay a service charge. I am usually a very generous tipper, but service needs to be earned. Rather than dismissing feedback with inaccuracies, I’d encourage you to reflect on the points raised. Acknowledging genuine issues would go a lot further than a defensive response. Disappointing Experience at Rangrez After the theatre, we decided to try Rangrez, as the reviews seemed promising. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. I’ve dined at many restaurants and enjoyed plenty of wine, but I’ve never been told that they only serve 125ml glasses at £7.49, which isn’t cheap. When I questioned this, pointing out that 175ml and 250ml are more common measures, the server insisted that 125ml is the standard everywhere. Rather than paying over the odds for small pours, I opted to buy the bottle for £28. Another frustrating aspect was the digital-only menu, which required scanning a QR code. It was difficult to navigate and made ordering unnecessarily complicated. Now, onto the food—the fish pakora was dry and of poor quality, and the vindaloo lacked depth and flavour, tasting disappointingly familiar. Overall, it was underwhelming. Adding to the discomfort, the restaurant was freezing. My wife kept her coat on the entire meal. The staff mentioned they would adjust the heating, but nothing changed. Perhaps if there had been more than four customers (including us), it might have felt a bit warmer. When it came time to pay, I questioned the service charge, as there had been little to no service. The first staff member insisted it was compulsory, but thankfully, another (who seemed to be in charge) allowed us to remove it. Would we return? Mmm… no. But at least it made for a memorable evening!

1 /5 Farrukh WDC: Worst curry ive ever had. Bad management and there was hair in my pilau rice. Staff was very rude. They are rascist towards all muslims yet they are indian themselves wanting a reform lol. The owner is clearly deluded and an a××××××licka of edl. Dont think he wants to lose his visa lol.

2 /5 Robert V: proved to be a distinctly mediocre experience, largely let down by the service. The atmosphere is pleasant enough, and the Indian food is technically fine but it lacks the vibrant punch one hopes for. Unfortunately, the staff didnt seem to share the chefs efforts. The service was slow, inattentive, and lacked basic warmth. Waiting an age for simple drink orders and struggling to flag down a waiter to request the bill made the entire evening feel like a frustrating chore. It’s acceptable if youre stuck, but for the price, both the food and the customer care should be significantly better.
