The atmosphere was wonderfully relaxing, and my family had a truly enjoyable evening. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would love to return. 5 /5 Gillian Heap: Booked Xmas day after several visits through the year with excellent quality of food and service. The feast was just amazing and delicious. What a treat. Several little starters then a huge platter of xmas dinner with both turkey and fillet steak then 4 little desserts. Wow! Such a lovely relaxing atmosphere. Ben and his team made it very special. Highly recommend.

3 /5 Jake Daniels: We recently visited the Sherlock Inn after booking in advance. First impressions were good – it’s a cosy, comfortable pub with a nice atmosphere. The lady who seated us was very friendly and welcoming, and our drinks were served promptly and were spot on. That said, the overall experience was a bit mixed. When we arrived, there were a few staff standing at the end of the bar who didn’t acknowledge us, which felt slightly awkward. Once seated, service was polite but a little hands-off – no one checked back in with us after the food arrived. I ordered a pie (partly my fault for not reading the menu more closely), but I was surprised that mash or chips had to be ordered separately. I wasn’t asked if I wanted any sides, so the pie arrived on its own with a large portion of broccoli, which looked a bit odd and felt underwhelming for £20+. My wife’s chicken was nicely cooked, but one of the advertised elements had been substituted without this being mentioned to us. Food came out quickly and the setting is pleasant, but the experience left us feeling it’s a place that’s perhaps trying to be more of a niche steak/à la carte venue than a traditional pub. If you’re happy ordering multiple sides, it may suit you well. We had planned to stay for dessert and more drinks, but ended up calling it a night after the mains. A nice venue with potential, but just a few service and communication tweaks would make a big difference.

4 /5 Jen S: The food is incredible, and we had really great service...until we were the last table there (at 10pm on a Saturday night). We were asked if they could call us cabs, and when we asked for another drink before we left we were told the bar staff had all gone home and they couldnt serve us. It was a disappointment as we had gone there to celebrate a 50th birthday, so perhaps not the place for an evening celebration. Aside from that though, it was a fabulous evening and the food and service was really just so lovely.
