5 /5 Andrew Thomas: Beautifully maintained gardens with shaped ornamental flower beds, stunning tulip displays in April, and a historic Norman castle at the centre.
Theres plenty of seating to spend a few moments enjoying the surroundings. Other features include an attractive bandstand, war memorials and a striking statue of Alice Through The Looking Glass. There are various ruined walls around the grounds, and good signage.
The castle itself (entry charged separately) is worth a look, with a small exhibition inside and great views from the top, but the gardens are the real highlight, and free to enter.
