2 /5 Liz M.: I came to this place after looking up where to eat in Deptford and this came up on the list - its cozy and the service was nice enough for cheap eats, however the food was a bit of a let down. Ive eaten a lot of jerk chicken and jollof rice and the chicken I was served here was dry - as if its been sitting under the heat lamps, not freshly BBQd. The chicken I had tasted like it had been BBQd the day before, dried out and reheated the following day. Smothered with jerk sauce to hide the fact that its dry. The jollof rice - I could not taste the tomato in it - it looked liked food colouring instead of proper rice cooked in tomatoe stew. Salad was also really bland and the plantain was unripe and not sweet. It was a big let down, sorry.

I visited Jerk Yard (Arch 10, 4 Deptford Market Yard, London SE8 4BX) and the food was outstanding from start to finish. The specially made jerk chicken jollof was next level, proper smoky jerk flavour infused beautifully into the jollof. Spicy, rich, and cooked just right. Not dry. Not rushed. Just done properly. The oxtail was tender and deeply flavoured, that slow-cooked goodness you can taste in every bite. And the curry goat? Soft, well-seasoned, and full of authentic Caribbean warmth. You can tell real care goes into the cooking. The ambience was warm and relaxed with a great vibe, perfect for a chilled dinner, catching up with friends, or even a casual date night. Clean space, good music, welcoming atmosphere. Service was friendly and attentive without being over the top. Jerk Yard is not just serving food, they’re serving proper flavour and experience. I’ll definitely be back.
