4 /5 Ash M: Last week, I went with my family, who loves Asian food, to try traditional North Chinese cuisine. As usual, we ordered vegetarian dishes for my wife and me, while the kids chose non-vegetarian options. We had a wide variety of choices in each category, including vegetarian, chicken, prawn, fish, and duck. For the first time, my kids ordered quarter crispy duck, and they really enjoyed it. Now, they are eager to order it again next time!

5 /5 Maya Berglind: Really delicious food. Delicate flavours, but still very tasty! Clean and simple decor. Our server was clearly very experienced and genuinely caring. We really wanted to try a range of the appetisers, and our server was very accommodating. He allowed us to swap out some of dishes in the combination starter, to suit our tastes. The duck pancakes were homemade which was an unexpected but very nice touch, really elevated the meal. The homemade dumplings and the homemade noodles were also very delicious. Another favourite was the salt and pepper pork ribs - full of flavour and the meat was very tender. The only thing that could have been improved was that it was very quiet. The music was very low, so we felt as if we had to whisper and keep quiet so as to not disturb the other diners. Maybe they could turn up the music a little bit? Overall, one of the best Chinese meals I’ve eaten in London. Would definitely recommend.

5 /5 Ross Farquhar: In a city where it feels like Szechuan cuisine has been dying out as Thai, Japanese and Korean find modern favour, theres something really wonderful about discovering the kind of Chinese restaurant you remember from childhood and still thriving. The food in North China is excellent. A menu that plays all the favourites, from prawn black bean to shredded chilli beef to delicious siu mai. We finished with a classic - toffee apple fritters with vanilla ice cream - and I was immediately transported back to being a kid. The service is also great, and the atmosphere was only mildly worsened by a rather loud table nearby. I doubt thats a normal challenge, however - its clearly a local favourite, with almost every table taken up by couples and families on return visits quietly enjoying a much loved treat. This is comfort dining at its best.

5 /5 Andrew L: Food was delicious, we had the following and would recommend all: Jade prawn dumplings Salt pepper squid Sea spiced aubergine Chicken and cashew nuts Prawn and black bean sauce Egg fried rice Plain noodles The service was very attentive. We ordered Jasmine tea, which was replenished multiple times during the meal. Definitely a local favourite because it was very busy and there were multiple delivery drivers collecting food. This is our second visit to North China Restaurant and will definitely be returning.
