1 /5 Chris Kellet: Visited in the summer, my wife ordered a salad at this Slim Chickens branch, and it came with a toxic wild plant mixed in: later identified as Common Groundsel, which is definitely not food-safe. It’s a plant known to contain liver-damaging compounds.
We reported it immediately, but there was no manager on site. The staff seemed genuinely confused, admitted the plant shouldn’t have been there, and said they’d “just opened the bag” and would check the others - which strongly implied they’re just serving pre-packaged salads without any inspection.
After I asked for a refund, someone was phoned and brought out from the kitchen to speak to me. The whole process felt chaotic and unprofessional, with no clear protocol in place for dealing with something as serious as food contamination.
To top it off, when they tried to refund me… they accidentally charged me again. I only realised weeks later when I checked my statement. I couldn’t face going back to sort it out - so I ended up paying twice for the potentially poisonous salad.
The chicken itself was ok, but after the experience, I wouldn’t go back.
Avoid.
