EmilleeJoy Authentic, vegetarian, delicious and healthy Ethiopian food at the heart of Brixton market. Service was so friendly and our waitress (and maybe the cook as well) came out to let us wash our hands before we ate our platter for two.

The Fat Badger - Notting Hill -

Danio Domingues A truly superb lunch experience at The Fat Badger! Set in the heart of Portobello, the bar area and restaurant offers a beautiful and welcoming setup that instantly sets the tone. The live music creates an atmosphere that feels both vibrant and relaxed, making it the perfect spot to unwind. The wine list is exceptional—carefully curated with something for every palate—and the service is nothing short of outstanding. The staff are kind, highly knowledgeable, and above all, wonderfully attentive without ever being intrusive. The food is simply outstanding: high-quality, delicious dishes that look effortless on the plate, yet clearly reflect a thoughtful and creative process in the kitchen. Every bite feels elevated and crafted with care. A place that ticks every box—ambience, service, wine, and food. An absolute must-visit in Notting Hill & Portobello!! I can’t wait to try the Dinner service on the top floor restaurant.

Helga Leith The bavette arrived already sliced, each piece blushing perfectly at the centre — the kind of pink that takes confidence to serve. The chimichurri was generous, verdant, unashamed. Chips in a bowl, because some things shouldn’t be fussed with. A glass of something dark in the background, holding its position like a good supporting character should. Chelsea casual. Quietly correct. The pub is lucky to have a chef de partie who notices how a plate looks as well as how it cooks.

INIS - Tower Hamlets

Kevin Coaker We were wowed by nearby Café Cecilia earlier this year, so were excited to try INIS for our anniversary dinner. For a dark autumn evening, Hackney Wick was surprisingly lively, and the team at INIS kindly found us a spot for a pre-dinner drink when we arrived 45 minutes early. First off, the three staff on duty were absolutely lovely - friendly, attentive, and made us feel so welcome. The food was fantastic, with the Irish influence shining through in all the right ways. I had the winter salad, while my wife’s duck starter was just as tempting. My John Dory main was sublime, and the wine list full of interesting options - we chose a lovely Vernaccia from Tuscany. We’re already keen to return to try the Sunday lunch once winter properly sets in.
