4 /5 Angies Phummarin Zhao: Lao Dao offers a very authentic Xinjiang dining experience in London. The interior truly feels like stepping into China beautifully decorated with great attention to detail. The portion sizes are very generous and the pricing is reasonable, especially considering London standards. I personally don’t eat beef, and many of the signature dishes feature beef, so my options were slightly limited. It would be great to see more non-beef or vegetarian choices in the future. Overall, a unique and atmospheric restaurant worth visiting for those who enjoy bold flavours and large sharing plates.

I enjoyed everything, from the food , the friendly waiter who single handily served the whole restaurant and the venue, which retained the Victorian interior. I thought the food was authentic. The bbq dishes were great, so are the dumplings, and the noodles freshly made. What’s more, there’s free refill for the noodles - you are guaranteed to leave this restaurant stuffed. I would happily return and spread the word. It’s excellent value.

5 /5 D Robs: This is by far the best Chinese restaurant in Elephant & Castle. The restaurant itself is located within an old listed butchers shop as is beyond charming, the staff are friendly and the food is incredible. We always start with the delicious dumplings & scrumpy smashed cucumber combo followed by a stunning noodle dish. This has become a weekly go to for us, because we enjoy it so much and it’s so close to home!

2 /5 Ez- Le: This place was local and had good reviews so I decided to give it a try. It had an earthy, friendly atmosphere. The staff member that served us, was polite and nice enough.... but, he stank. Not just a little bit. He needed a serious shower. Every time he walked past you got hit with this waft of 24hour old body odor, My small child even commented she didnt like the smell of the shop. We ordered chicken rice noodles £13 and fried beef noodles £14, which I thought was quite expensive so I had high hopes. We then proceeded to wait half an hour, for the food to be cooked. A ridiculous amount of time for such a simple order. Upon getting home to reveal the food, the fried beef looked like minced beef Bolognese, which id not anticipated. The chicken was ok at best and I didnt like the beef. The food wasnt nice, the service took too long, at cost far more than it was worth, but they were polite. I would not return.
