3 /5 colin read: This was a meal for six of us. Lovely pub with great period features. Host was polite without being very welcoming. Starters ;baked Camembert was ok but the bread was disappointing, same with the turkey terrine. Mains; venison was the standout dish, very good well cooked, fish and chips was reasonable as was the burger, mullet very good as well. Only one dessert, the Yule log, which was somewhat underwhelming. Wine list was limited and mainly trade labels , most of which you cannot find on the high street. We had a primitivo which was of the low alcohol early picked variety. Very trendy but not what youd normally expect from this grape. Serving staff were very pleasant. Circa, £60 per head, which is pretty good value.
