5 /5 Nas uk: Amazing cosy place to relax and recharge. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff are really friendly – they make you feel at home straight away. Breakfast was lovely, especially the fresh croissants and the coffee. Everything was delicious and nicely prepared. A great little spot to unwind and enjoy some peace and quiet. Would definitely recommend.

5 /5 Michael Mosser: We stayed at the Black Lion for three nights recently, during a holiday visit to a family member who lives in the area. We have been fans of the pub for a few years now, and have told a number of friends who either visit London or live here that this is seriously some of the best Indian food around, in a pub that has all the charm one would expect of a Grade II listed property. This time around, we decided to pair our love of the pub with an overnight stay in the lodgings, hoping it would be of a similar caliber. We were not disappointed; the small-but-efficient room was elegantly laid out, well-appointed with high-end furnishings and bath supplies, and furnished with one of the most comfortable beds weve slept in for quite a while. The morning breakfast, while cold continental, allowed one to customize with toast or fruit, cereals or cheeses; the service at breakfast was in the back dining room and really made each day off to a great start. The neighborhood is wonderfully eclectic, with some of the best South Asian cuisine and shops around. London tourists, step out of your comfort zones and get out of the center to come to Kilburn. Youll be more than pleasantly surprised; youll be amazed at the vitality and energy of the neighborhood where the Black Lion stands as a proud centerpiece. As a final note, the pub is decorated so very nicely for the holiday that it could star in its own Christmas movie. Highly recommended for both food/drink and a stay in the lodging.

3 /5 Juan Cabrera: We stayed for three nights at The Black Lion in Kilburn, near West Hampstead, as our niece lives very close by and recommended that we stay there. The location itself was not necessarily our first choice, but it was convenient for visiting family. There were several positive aspects to our stay. The staff were consistently friendly and respectful, and we appreciated their welcoming attitude throughout our visit. Our room was very nice—well maintained, clean, and spacious. We had a double bed as well as a sofa bed, which gave our family of four plenty of room and made the stay comfortable from a space perspective. However, there were a few issues that significantly affected our experience. First, there was very little noise insulation in the room. We were on the second floor, and each morning around 5 or 6 a.m., we could clearly hear cars, trucks, and even music playing outside the window. The street noise was loud enough to wake us up daily, which made it difficult to get proper rest. Second, some maintenance details could be handled more carefully. For example, the bathroom door had a lock, but it came loose and fell off during our stay, and we were unable to reattach it. Small issues like this give the impression that certain details are not being fully checked. Finally, the breakfast was disappointing. Given the pricing—over £300 per night in our case—the breakfast experience could be significantly improved, especially considering that the pub has a full kitchen that it uses for lunch, dinner, and Sunday roast. The offering felt quite basic relative to the overall cost of the stay. Overall, while the room itself and the staff were strong positives, the noise levels, maintenance issue, and breakfast quality made the stay less comfortable than we had hoped.

5 /5 Vic Box: An absolute diamond in the rough. The food is really good — Indian food done well (and the Sunday roast is great too). They have a good selection of drinks, some interesting beers on tap and a good variety of wines. Staff are very friendly and personable. It has a historic yet cozy and inviting feel.

5 /5 Michele Granera: This is such a nice pub and guesthouse. The food in the pub is really good, and I like that it was Indian/Indian-inspired. The room was very nice, with charming details that are as nice as the photos. It was very quiet during my stay and I could not hear other guests. Breakfast is cold continental only but really good quality and variety of items. The location is a little out of the way but I preferred not being in a busy area, it was very easy to access the tube, train, and bus stops, and it was a lot less expensive than more central locations. Overall I would definitely recommend a stay here.
