1 /5 James Lodge: We booked this restaurant for Christmas lunch and were extremely disappointed with the experience. The service was painfully slow, it took over two and a half hours for our main course to arrive. When it finally did, the food was somehow both cold and overcooked. The potatoes were completely inedible, which was especially disappointing given the occasion. Dessert only added to the frustration. We were served a chocolate mousse that was warm and melted, as if it had been sitting under a heat lamp for some time. To make matters worse, when it came time to pay, the restaurant had lost our drinks order, causing further delays and confusion. Overall, it was a terrible experience and unfortunately put a real downer on what should have been an enjoyable Christmas Day. We won’t be returning.

5 /5 ashley plumpton: Truly a superb roast, we were not expecting this!! Booked on an off chance and Googled best roast dinners in the area, this was one of the options and we were so glad we booked, it was truly delicious. This pub is old and pretty dark, but dont let it deceive you. It has bags of character and the food delivers, well be back.

5 /5 Ryan: Delicious traditional British food. When you tire of the chain restaurants in Gunwharf Quays; come and fill your belly with some wholesome grub. My food was served piping hot, and I enjoyed every bite. The young lady waiting on my table was polite and attentive. The atmosphere is homely.

5 /5 Ilona Thompson: We had an excellent meal here which was a lovely surprise as the pub wasn’t our first choice. Everything was good, hot and filling. We were catching the ferry to Bilbao and had picked another restaurant but it was shut and we found the Dolphin instead. I must say I’m glad we did! Dave the manager was very friendly and helpful, telling us about a quicker route to the ferry terminal. Thanks Dave and next time we’re in Portsmouth we’ll be sure to call in.
