5 /5 David O: The Duke – What a Pleasant Surprise!
Popped into The Duke completely by chance after a visit to the doctors across the road. We’d actually planned to eat somewhere else, but the menu caught our eye and we decided to give it a go.
The pub has a lot of character, two pool tables, and really friendly staff. Only downside was that our meals didn’t arrive together – I’d already finished my pizza by the time the other main came out.
That said, the food was tasty, drinks were spot on, and you can tell there’s been real effort put into making this a place worth visiting.
a DJ turned up and played some great music for a few minutes while setting up for a live broadcast – added a fun vibe to the afternoon have to return when they have music.
Can’t believe I’ve never been in here before! We’ll definitely be coming back, hopefully for a proper night out with good music.
Only negative – the graffiti in the toilets lets it down a bit. Still, looking forward to heading back soon for a drink and a dance.
