2 /5 Ali: We stopped here during a cold ride for a coffee break and something hot to drink, but the experience was disappointing from the moment we arrived.
As first-time visitors, we were told the place was fully booked, but the explanation was vague and not helpful. We were left unsure where to go or whether we could sit anywhere, and had to keep asking for clarification. It made us feel more like an inconvenience than customers.
The younger staff seemed friendly enough, but one older lady was particularly cold, dismissive, and unprofessional. Unfortunately, her attitude set the tone for the whole visit and managed to make the overall experience much worse than it should have been.
We do not want to make unfair accusations, but the clear feeling was that locals or familiar faces were treated more warmly, while outsiders were not welcomed in the same way. As three people who travel a lot around the UK, this felt like one of those subtle “you’re not one of us” situations. It is not always said openly, but it shows in the attitude and tone. If you are a visitor, a foreigner, or a biker passing through, this may not be the welcoming stop you expect.
We even had to raise our voices just to order three Americanos, despite the place being almost empty, so there was really no reason for such poor communication. After that, the interaction became a bit more normal, but by then the impression had already been made.
It is a shame, because the place itself is lovely, authentic, and full of character. Sadly, the hospitality did not match the setting.
The americanos were amazing, not passive agressive to drink :)
