5 /5 Andy Napier: After driving past The Old Red Lion on a weekly basis and not really giving it a second look, the need for some lunch with friends whilst nearby prompted us to look at the online reviews out of curiosity, and we were pleasantly surprised by the consistently high scores.
Booking online was simple and easy. Getting parked was fine on a weekday lunchtime, but I imagine at weekends things could be an awful lot trickier - and would leave me rather anxious with the lack of car park.
The food is excellent for the price point. The pork schnitzel was flavourful, tender and hot. It was served with a fresh and well dressed chopped salad and a mountain of French fries. The Beef and Horseradish sandwich certainly wasnt lacking in the filling department and came served with a generous stack of quality crisps on the side. The kids Pasta was plenty for a 13 year old appetite, and was again clearly freshly prepared and seasoned well. The other item from the kids menu was the burger which was again of a decent size and topped well.
The pub itself is spotlessly clean, well laid out, and outside commands a lovely view from the beer garden.
All in all very pleasantly surprised - and we are only saddened by having not visited sooner.
