Enea Shehaj My girlfriend and I recently visited Gurkha Villa, and we had a fantastic experience. It was our first time trying authentic Nepalese food, and we really enjoyed every part of it. We ordered the garlic naan, onion bhaji, a Thai cuisine set, and chicken chowmein — and everything came out together, which was great as we could enjoy all the dishes at the same time and share everything while it was fresh and hot. The garlic naan was soft and full of flavour, perfect alongside the dishes. The onion bhaji was crispy and nicely spiced, while the Thai cuisine set offered a great variety and was beautifully presented. The chicken chowmein was packed with flavour, with tender chicken and perfectly cooked noodles. The portions were generous, the food tasted authentic, and the overall atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming — perfect for a date night. It was a brilliant first introduction to Nepalese cuisine for us, and we’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend Gurkha Villa if you’re looking to try something different and delicious.

Daljit Kapoor Papu da Dhaba, absolutely fantastic Indian takeaway and restaurant. The food was fresh, full of flavour, and clearly made with care. Portions were generous and everything was cooked perfectly. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the service was quick even during busy hours. One of the best Indian takeaways around — consistently great quality and great value for money. Highly recommend and will definitely be ordering again!

Kara Azia This place has a lovely chill atmosphere with a beautiful aesthetic. I came for some drinks with my family and we could not decide what cocktails we wanted from the many options in the menu. The amazing bartender offered to make something off the menu with our favourite spirit and type of drink we would like. I’m a tequila drinker and like it spicy, he did not disappoint and had provided with a delicious cocktail with tequila, agave and spices. Would defo recommend this little gem in South Woodford for a beautiful dinner or a nice chilled place to have good cocktails and chat.

zeeshan azhar Pepe’s is a great place for grilled chicken lovers. The food was fresh, well-cooked, and full of flavour. Portions were good and the prices are reasonable. The staff were friendly and service was quick. Overall, a nice spot for a casual meal and I’d definitely visit again.

Patrycja Walachowska Food - absolutely amazing. Authentic. Delicious. The setting is very chilled and family-oriented, we were sat outside with our two little ones and they enjoyed it so much. The great thing about it was also that we were checked on regularly how the food is received, how we are doing but never felt rushed or hovering. Just right. The venue inside is very spacious too, ideal for various parties. Great experience.

Andrew Downing The developing (as of end 2025) Caravan Tech outreach program? Seriously, not only did Caravan Tech fit me in for pressing work on my motorhome, at very short notice, Ian bussed me the short journey to the Merriments Café. Where we got a very dog-friendly welcome and settled into a log-burner heated snug with leather sofas and chairs. The rising price of coffees is not confined to this place, however. A popular venue which comprises tiled floors, country pine tables and some imaginative use of umbrellas hung from the conservatory-styled roof, to combat heat gain. Decent Wi-Fi helps, too. At the time of writing the early stages of the project plan to move the CT side of the business to this site is evident. My experience of both the café, the sale of equipment and spares and the workshop have been exemplary. Kudos. There is a baked goods display and a kitchen turning out food which seemed to go down just fine. I will happily return
