1 /5 David ONeil: Disappointing,
I work across the road, and went here today after work
Ordered a keema naan (3.50), lamb korai (10.95), onion bhaji (3.00) and pilau rice (3.00) bringing the total to 20.45
There is supposed to be a discount of 15% at the threshold of 20.45, I watched the member of staff serving me move on quietly, the food can speak for itself. Should have been charged £17.38, was charged £20.45.
Most customers wont argue, I certainly wont. You want to rip me off, I will smile and say thank you, but all will hear of what you have done. Youre the one in charge of serving me food and have assured the menu of a 15% discount over this threshold. I didnt even intend to hit the threshold.
Keema Naan was tiny, photo attached, and the flavour was problematic, Im not sure what you are doing to your "lamb" but it tastes of chemicals.
The highlight of the meal was the "east end special" - Korai - which had a decent flavour and mild spice, but both the mutton and vegetables disintegrated in your mouth, a sign of having sat there for a long while, could be a few days, could be a week. I suppose its ok if youre on life support or forgot your dentures, and there is a care home down the road. Perhaps they are frequent customers.
The Bhaji were probably delightful when they were first cooked, but these Bhaji were stale, little greasy rocks of fried onion, they seemed a few days old.
The rice was flakey and each grain was distinguishable, but lacked flavour or character of its own. Tasted sterile rather than tasted of rice.
There is no seating in this place, it is take-away only, which is good, but you expect competitive food for the pricetag regardless.
Also, the yogurt mint sauce? They do actually give it to you with your meal for free which is kind of them, just... it is a shame that it is watered down and out of date.
I strongly recommend that prospective customers do not eat this food unless there is no other alternative. Ive tried most of the other Indians in the area and they all seem superior.
Some of the chargrilled food looks ok in other peoples reviews but these are the lowest quality cuts of meat money can buy (but dry-brined before marinade)
1) dishonest business practises (its your job to be honest, not my job to catch you)
2) underwhelming food
3) coin is coin, spend it elsewhere. save yourself money. dont buy yesterdays food at todays prices.
