4 /5 Scott B: This is a lovely pub with a great country feel to it. What makes this place a bit different is that they have a separate area to give you that ‘restaurant’ style experience. Quite often pubs charge restaurant prices but fail to deliver on the service and quality. This is not the case here, you get the full on restaurant service from start to finish. Our server Oliver was friendly, approachable where nothing was too much trouble. We dined from the festive menu and paid the extra to have any supplement removed which also included a welcome drink and after dinner cocktail. The scallop starter was nice but nothing wow. The mains, were the absolute star of the show. We had the Ribeye Steak and Pork Tomahawk. Both dishes were bang on with flavour and generously portioned. Special shout out to that calvados gravy, exceptional!
A couple of reasons why I’ve not given this 5* was down to the scallop starter and that I had already paid to remove all the supplements but charging then another supplement for steak sauces, they should include this as part of an ‘all in’ deal.
All in all, a great dining experience in a friendly and well run pub. Will definitely be going back.
