5 /5 Berkay aydın: Honestly, this was the best local experience of our 10-day London trip. As a family, we tried pie and mash and jellied eels. We chose jellied eels because its a culturally significant London specialty, although it was a little different to our taste. But the pie and mashes were fantastic with their special sauces. They also sell vinegars made by the owner. Its definitely a must-visit place in London. If you go to Greenwich, you absolutely have to eat here. While similar flavors, coffee shops, sauces, and brands are becoming increasingly common all over the world, local businesses like this are much more valuable. Plus, the place is a family business thats been around for about 130 years... Thank you so much!

5 /5 I have craving: Stepping into Goddards at Greenwich is like walking into a piece of London’s history. Open since 1890, the establishment perfectly preserves a lovely old-school feel, offering a truly traditional and quintessential Pie and Mash experience. This is not just a meal; it’s a cultural immersion into a time-honoured British classic. The main event, the handmade pie and mash, certainly lives up to the shops legacy. The crust was excellent and the mash creamy, serving as a robust foundation for the meal. I found the filling, while generously portioned, to be a bit under-seasoned for my personal taste. Thankfully, this was easily remedied with a little salt, which brought the flavours right to the fore. Sometimes, in a traditional setting like this, a touch of personal adjustment is all it takes! In terms of dining experience, the service was fantastic. Despite the quick turnover, the staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive. They ensured the process was efficient without ever feeling rushed. If you are looking for an authentic taste of London, Goddards is the place to be. It’s a nostalgic and comforting spot that remains a vital part of the Greenwich culinary landscape, delivering tradition with quick, warm service.

3 /5 Jerry: I remember going here years ago and it being much better! I got the steak and ale pie with mash and gravy, and an Apple crumble and custard for dessert. The steak and ale pie was disappointing, pastry was bland, filling was even more bland with not even a faint ale taste and lacking meat. The mash was ok but don’t expect any creaminess as it’s just plain mashed potato, and the gravy didn’t have much flavour either (but get this over liquor 100%). The crumble was better - if you went to school in the UK, this will taste very familiar as it’s closest to a school dinners crumble more than anything. Thick layer of packed crumble, and slightly tangy soft apple filling with lumpy watery (but somehow thick?) custard. Maybe it’s just nostalgia but I enjoyed this far more than the pie. Regardless, I’d still recommend people to try this if they’re in Greenwich as it’s a nice piece of history.
