5 /5 Tim Slack: A phenomenal dining experience. The server was very friendly and the ambience was just right for some Asian small plates. The food came out fairly quickly which is always appreciated. We ordered 6 dishes, and our highlights were the karaage mushroom (delightfully citrusy, spicy and crisp) and the aubergine skewer (intense umami and delightfully smoky). I really appreciated that the menu wasn’t heavy on the vegan meat alternatives and used a lot of produce too! This is a must visit for any vegan, and any Asian cuisine enthusiast.

5 /5 Patrick Cosgrave: world class casual dining experience. Truly delicious, naughty dishes and great atmosphere. Excellent choice if youre looking for variety, the menu is perfect for sharing. first off, the food was unmatched. This place serves the sort of trendy sounding dishes that many modern dining establishments aspire to but here the execution is top notch - the miso Brussel sprouts had ncredible flavour and texture. Also, the scorched dirty rice was so good I ordered a second portion before desert. staff were sound, attentive and had a bit of banter. the restaurant has great ambience too and they make the most of the space in their little den. my partner and I had a bench for the two of us that faced a wall which sounds naff but again, with good lighting and music and comfy stools it just felt right. there are full sized tables too if youre coming in a group. book a table, you wont regret it. its Brighton and it can be pricey depending on what you choose and when you go. they do like a lunch deal though which must be banging.

4 /5 Amy Hendry: The staff were really nice, the environment was enjoyable- the music was good and the tables felt casual yet still private. The grilled cabbage with seaweed butter was delicious! My personal favourite bite of the night. Their own brand scorpion beer was also really delicious and paired well with all of the food we had. This is the actually second time eating at bonsai (first time was 2 years ago) and unfortunately it has not stood well to the test of time. The first time I ate here I was blown away and this time I did not have that same ‘wow’ feeling. The majority of the food was good, but did not excel. The kimchi pancakes in particular were quite flavourless. However, I still think this is a nice place to go for a meal and I would still go back and be pleased! The ordering system is very interactive which is interesting, the staff are lovely and attentive, and the food is still good!

4 /5 David Holmes: Absolutely incredible vegan food; such a huge range of flavours. We had the £30 set menu, which was great value & the food just kept on coming! Beautiful venue, but rather standoffish waitress
