Speedys Sandwich Bar & Cafe - (Near Camden, london)

4 /5 Tom: Started working nearby so thought I would check out this place. It’s a family run cafe. It was lunchtime on a Tuesday and was pretty busy so shows they must be doing good things. They gave me a menu of sandwich like things and I went for the smoked salmon and cream cheese baguette. They didn’t have any baguette left so we all agreed on a large white bap. It £8.50 which is on the high end but there was plenty of salmon. It tasted great and at the end of it the whole thing felt like the size of a big lunch so I was pleased and felt it was good value. I can see myself going back to try other things and to potentially eat in as well!

5 /5 Alexander Vladimirov: Yes, this is THE Speedys — the iconic café right next to Sherlock and Watsons house! -) Of course, I mean the one from the BBC-series Sherlock. Right nearby is the entrance to "that very house" where the shows characters lived. Although these days the “221B” number has been removed and replaced with a plaque stating that an Italian patriot once lived here. The café itself is very nice and cozy - perhaps six tables inside, plus two outside. The menu is quite modest and limited (it used to be much larger, as you can see online). The walls are decorated with film stills and photos of the owner with the actors. The owner was there during my visit, but he seemed busy and concerned, so I didn’t want to bother him. I should note that there are always people here. You can get a seat, but patrons constantly come and go. Judging by the opening hours (Speedy’s is open from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, and from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays), the café still primarily serves local residents, not tourists. On the other hand, there are certainly fewer tourists now — there are many more TV shows, and Sherlock is mentioned less often… Speedy’s offers excellent service. The waiter told me how he was there during filming (having worked here his whole life) and was generally very friendly and cheerful. The food here is unpretentious - very simple, yet delicious. The bacon is absolutely outstanding. English tea is served in a large cup with milk already added -) But then again, people dont come here for culinary wonders; they come to see where one of the best TV series was filmed. You can reach Speedy’s by metro; the nearest station is Euston Square. As for prices, they’re remarkably low. Which is another reason to love Speedys -) A tasty café, a place of interest for any cinephile, and very, very reasonable prices.

5 /5 Yingying Du: A place that Sherlock fans must visit in London. Sherlock’s breakfast is nice but if you are super hungry then it might not be enough. The last time i visited London I only went to 221B Baker Street, and soon found that the drama was actually filmed here, not at Baker Street lol. There are photos of Sherlock casts on the walls.

2 /5 K: Food was just okay. You see a few photos of the actors of Sherlock on the walls. And that was about it. There is nothing special about this place. Unfriendly staff. Both the woman and the man. The woman was just so rushed with everything. Not a lot of manners. No greetings. Casually threw cutlery on the table. Asked customers who had already been seated to move to accommodate new customers. As soon as you finish your food they want you out. Yes, it’s that bad. The man wasn’t any better. Just really cold with his service. He was rough with my friend’s credit card when he inserted it into the payment machine so the credit card was damaged and acted like nothing happened. We have been polite and friendly through out. He couldn’t even say thank you after we made the payment. We didn’t feel welcomed in this restaurant. We will not be coming back here. If you want English breakfast, there are a lot of other restaurants that offer it. There are absolutely no reasons to come here to suffer their terrible customer service.
