5 /5 hare super: Just tried the Chinese New Year menu at 6 Hamilton Place, and honestly, it’s such a unique spot in London. The building itself is gorgeous—feels more like a historic European members’ club than a restaurant, with high ceilings, crystal chandeliers, a sweeping staircase, and thick carpets. Totally the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re celebrating in style.
The menu is fine-dining Chinese, with a mix of seafood and classic “hard” dishes. Highlights for me:
Blue lobster – firm, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented
Salted egg yolk sole – rich, savory, and surprisingly comforting
Xinjiang lamb chops – full of cumin, surprisingly down-to-earth in the middle of all the fancy plating
The dessert was a real surprise: a delicate “Goji & Osmanthus Jelly” themed for the Year of the Horse. Light, fragrant, and so photogenic—felt like the perfect way to finish the meal.
It’s definitely not the cheapest dinner in London (£125pp minimum), but if you’re looking for a proper Chinese New Year feast with beautiful surroundings, private vibes, and a touch of ceremony, this is one of the few places that really delivers.
