Matt Salt We recently visited the Isle of Wight for what has become an annual family holiday — we love the island and always look forward to returning. While staying in Rookley, we were fortunate to be just a short distance from the Hare and Hounds, so we decided to book a meal there. From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel very welcome. The barman who looked after us (I’m so sorry I didn’t catch his name) was friendly, attentive, and genuinely lovely. The food exceeded all expectations. Even our children, who can be quite particular, thoroughly enjoyed their meals — which says a lot! We were told there was a different chef on that evening as the regular chef was off, so a big thank you to whoever was in the kitchen that night — everything was fantastic. We enjoyed it so much that we returned the following evening for our final meal of the trip — and once again, it was outstanding. Despite different staff and a different chef, the experience was just as good. I had the best gammon I’ve ever tasted — absolutely superb. A special thank you to Paul Avery in the kitchen, and to the two lovely ladies who served us, including Pauline. You were all wonderful, and the food was delicious. We couldn’t fault a thing and will absolutely be returning on our next visit to the Isle of Wight.

Rubes Super lovely and helpful staff, yummy delicious crepes with both savoury and sweet options. Also awesome coffee!! My new favourite spot. The previous reviews must be for somewhere else as the manager Karl was very delightful when serving me, and was certainly NOT grumpy in the slightest.

Ali Ahmadi Tonigh we had the pleasure of dining at Alborz Persian Restaurant to celebrate a birthday party , and it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. The food was delicious, bursting with authentic Persian flavors that truly captured the essence of Iranian cuisine. Every dish tasted fresh and perfectly seasoned — you can tell that only the highest quality ingredients are used. The chef’s skill and professionalism really shine through in every bite, taking you on an amazing journey through the rich and diverse tastes of Persian culinary tradition. From the perfectly grilled kebabs to the fragrant saffron rice and flavorful stews, everything was cooked to perfection. The staff were exceptionally friendly and professional, making me feel genuinely welcomed and cared for throughout the meal. Their warm hospitality added so much to the overall experience. I will definitely be going back again, as this was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time — both in terms of taste and atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy real, authentic Persian cuisine at its finest!

Jordan Ward Had a great birthday meal here with my work team and my Mrs. Would recommend to anyone local or families visiting. The food was to die for absolutely amazing bbq food. My personal favourites were the cornbread and the pulled pork. Price was great for the quality that we received. Staff here are fantastic so polite and kind, thank you So much for the nice time guys. I’ll be back again.
