I am extremely disappointed with our recent visit to Bangkok House in Oxford city centre.
We have been loyal customers for many years and always loved coming here, but since the location moved, the quality has completely gone downhill.
We had a reservation for 8pm on Valentine’s Day and were really looking forward to a special evening. Instead, we experienced some of the worst service we’ve ever had. We waited 1 hour and 30 minutes for our food with absolutely no communication from staff. No updates, no apologies, no reassurance — nothing. When we eventually asked a staff member what was happening, we were simply told “the kitchen is very busy.” That was it.
When the food finally arrived, it was incredibly disappointing. The chicken and basil had virtually no flavour at all — completely bland and nothing like the dishes we’ve enjoyed here in the past. The starter portions were shockingly small as well.
To pay £80 for a meal we didn’t enjoy, after being kept waiting so long and leaving much later than planned, was extremely frustrating.
Sadly, this experience has completely put us off returning.
