Scruffy O Was really looking forward to this and it didn’t disappoint. I went on Saturday 2 Jan 2026 lunchtime and it was quite busy generally in the food hall, but after ordering at the counter, the food was ready in a timely manner. I ordered the fried chicken banana leaf meal (husband had the chicken curry banana leaf meal) and a side of mutton rolls. It was all beautifully presented and the taste lived up to how it looked. I thought it to be really good value for money, the portions are generous without losing any quality of taste. Everything tasted fresh and well seasoned. The mutton rolls were a generous size, crispy, spicy and delicious. The fried chicken was very tasty and not too greasy or oily. All the acompaniments - veggies, potatoes, sauces, rice, popadom, fried chilies - were great. My husband and I were staying at the Marriott hotel opposite, so location wise was perfect. Also close to the Elizabeth line for anyone coming that way. I’d already gotten fed up of the abundance of restaurants in the area which charge a lot of money and deliver a subpar experience (average food, ridiculous upcharges, etc). Gopal’s corner is one I’m definitely going to return to when we stay at the Marriott again, and I can imagine I will eat there multiple times during our stay. Thanks to Mr Gopal and team for satisfying my spicy Asian food fix!

NL PB. What an amazing gem in an amazing town! The place is simply stunning, with “murales” just like in Sardinia! So cosy and beautiful! The staff is amazingly friendly and welcoming! Portions are huge, very generous! And the flavours take you back “home” (if you are from Sardinia!!). Pasta with vongole is highly recommended and ask for a “Seadas” if you want to dare and try a unique Sardinian dessert! A presto ragazzi!

Barbara Dickson The food here is fabulous, authentic & wonderful flavours. My first time but definitely wont be my last. We ate Crispy Chicken Skins & Chicken with Prawn Lettuce Cups - oh my goodness, I could eat these all day long! We then had their special Winter Curry Soup filled with deliciously spiced tofu, chicken thigh, egg, flat rice noodle - so hearty & warming on a cold night. The only thing I didnt like was the Thai Iced Tea - not sweet & very watery when it should have been thick, milky & sweet. Doesnt matter though, one little drink doesnt take away from the glorious food.

Victoria Eugenia Soto Magán Food was really tasty and service spot on. The room however felt slightly cold (downstairs) so a bit of heating would be much appreciated. Otherwise great experience!

MADDOGLEP I think this must be fairly new as I have no recollection of this pub / restaurant. Thomas Paine has strong local connections, unlike Casta and Madge. He helped inspire the American revolutionary war and almost lost his head in the French one. Silly so and so. I had another Harveys Sussex best bitter. One of three real ales on my visit. Very good. Up steep stairs finds a roof terrace. Must be lovely on a warm sunny day / evening. Free wifi.
