5 /5 Deborah Bynre: It’s great to see Thai food back on form in Reigate with the reopening of JusThai, formerly known as Thai Taste. The previous restaurant was sorely missed locally, so I was eager to try a takeaway and see if the magic was still there , I’m happy to say it absolutely is.
I started with the duck spring rolls, which were excellent. The filling was rich and juicy with plenty of flavour, wrapped in a crisp shell that had clearly been cooked fresh rather than sitting around waiting to be reheated.
For the main, I chose chicken chilli basil with steamed rice. I asked if the kitchen could prepare the chicken in the traditional Thai street-food style , finely chopped and add extra chilli and they were more than happy to accommodate. This attention to authenticity really paid off. The dish had a wonderful balance of heat, savoury depth, and fragrant basil, delivering that unmistakable Thai street-food character.
The steamed rice was also perfectly cooked, light, fluffy, and distinct grain by grain, which is often overlooked but makes all the difference.
Even as a takeaway, the food was still piping hot by the time I got home, which speaks to the care in preparation and packaging. If this meal is anything to go by, JusThai is a very welcome return to the Reigate food scene and one I’m very happy to see back.
