5 /5 Neil F: If you think you have seen every type of London café, think again. Roca Cafe quietly gets on with serving superb coffee, seriously good baguettes and a wonderfully international menu that makes you want to come back just to work your way through it.
The coffee is spot on. Properly made, full of flavour and clearly handled by people who care about what ends up in the cup. It is the sort of place where you order one and immediately start planning the second.
The baguettes were superb. Fresh, generously filled and far better than your average grab and go lunch. The menu is a globe trotter’s dream. Turkish breakfasts, Mediterranean omelettes, classic British fry ups, salads, paninis, burgers and more. It somehow manages to do a lot without feeling chaotic.
Inside, it has that cosy exposed brick, independent café feel with shelves of syrups, cakes and little details that make it feel welcoming rather than corporate. It is relaxed, friendly and refreshingly unpretentious.
In a city full of chains, Roca Cafe feels like a proper local gem. Great coffee, great food and a menu that makes you want to bring friends just so you can all order something different and share.
