5 /5 Ali: I visited Seascape Fish Bar during a trip through Balham and left very impressed. This is a proper family run fish and chip shop that focuses on quality, consistency, and friendly service.
I ordered cod and chips. The cod was excellent. Fresh, well cooked, and perfectly battered. The batter was light and crisp, with no greasiness at all. The fish inside was flaky and moist, showing it had been cooked with care and at the right temperature. This is how cod and chips should be done.
The chips were just as good. Golden, well seasoned, and cooked evenly. They held their shape and had a good balance of crisp edges and soft centres. No sogginess. No excess oil. You could taste the quality of the potatoes and the care taken in frying them properly.
I also ordered a halal sausage in batter. This was a great option to see on the menu and it did not disappoint. The batter was light and clean tasting, with no heavy oil flavour. The sausage itself was juicy and satisfying, making it a strong alternative to the classic fish order.
Service was friendly and welcoming from the moment I walked in. You can tell this is a place that values its regular customers and takes pride in what it serves. Orders were handled efficiently and with a smile.
If you are in Balham and want proper fish and chips, this is a place worth visiting. Honest food. Well cooked. Fairly priced. I would happily return and recommend it without hesitation.
