When the service is good, its very quick and attentive, and the staff are generally great . Its a nice place for a casual get-together with friends . The pub also occasionally stages beer festivals, which is a nice touch . However, the experience can be inconsistent. On busy nights, you might find yourself waiting 10 minutes at the bar while staff serve regulars first, which can leave your meal going cold . The food quality is also variable – while the value is generally good, some dishes like the Sunday roast have been criticised for fatty meat and undercooked vegetables . The drink selection is fine, but be aware that some premium options might not be available, and Guinness is sometimes served in plastic glasses . 5 /5 Carol Allen: Visited The Preston for our Work Christmas lunch. Very welcoming atmosphere upon arrival and staff were friendly. Varied menu for all tastes and I was especially chuffed when my colleagues who are NOT Local praised the food and the atmosphere. Great sized portions for the Christmas meal and presentation of the tables upon arrival Service was well paced allowing us time for our Secret Santa, quiz and drinks. Recent refurbishment makes the place warm and cozy with new seating and the toilets are all spruced up Lovely evening with friends and well done to the team around what must be your busiest time of the year
