2 /5 McCarthy Sam “SJ”: Alright hear me now, I was influenced to go and try the £15 Friday smash burger deal at 1 Lombard street. I went with high hopes and my friend Olivia. This was a unique experience because this is the real life evidence of looks can be deceiving because the restaurant looks lovely inside, the food looks great but it all went very left very quickly.
We started of the meal having Oysters, now I’ve never tried oysters before so Olivia got them and I tried one and that’s when it all went sideways, because I severely regret trying it them. They were watery, the texture was truly horrible and the lemon and Tabasco sauce did absolutely nothing for me. I can say it was the single worst thing I’ve eaten in my life. That was just the start to this chaotic culinary experience.
After quite a long wait the star of the show arrived the double party smashed burger with added burger for an extra £3 and a coke on the side for about £4.50. BUT did I get my coke ? No, I did not I thought maybe the waiter forgot so I reminded him and asked for some sauce to go with my chips he came back 5 minutes later with ketchup and what I hope was mayo but looked a lot like butter. The chips were good I will give them that, salty, crispy and fluffy can’t go wrong. The burger on the other hand wasn’t, it was purely texture and cheese because the patties didn’t taste of anything, the sauce didn’t add much because it was overpowered by the cheese, the pickles were lost in the burger and the bacon had no crisp and was chewy so I paid an extra £3 for weatherspoons quality bacon. Not only was all the moisture sucked out of my mouth from the burger I didn’t have any water left to alleviate that as they would pour some in my glass and take the jug away with them and my coke, it never arrived.
The coke wasn’t added to the bill which I don’t know how to feel about it but anyway if I was to give a recommendation after that experience I would say don’t bother, use your money else where and although it’s nice in there, lovely aesthetic but you could probably get better food and service elsewhere.
