5 /5 Lloyd Thomas: Very nice halal chicken sandwich and very good veggie fried breakfast. Mushrooms nice and crispy. Coffee (macchiato) was strong and bitter (like it often is in Italy, in a good way) with a fine crema. The lad who was serving was polite. Recommend this place for food and a cuppa.

5 /5 Murad Ahmed: Yes like others I decided to try this place for breakfast full English as it was reasonably priced unlike many these days. Breakfast was 15.94 with a Moka. Also the coffee is well made here and even the moka was not sweet unlike other places that would use cheaper chocolate powder. The quality of breakfast was good and cooked well. And the dog didn’t mind the spacious layout of the interior so he didn’t get in the way of people. But i did find the table I sat at uncomfortable as the width under the table for your legs was very narrow. So I had to sit back to eat breakfast.

Harry Goldsmith Visited The Sussex Ox recently and it was a great experience. The setting is beautiful, especially with the views over the South Downs perfect spot for a relaxed meal. The food was excellent, really fresh and well presented, and the portions were generous. Service was friendly and welcoming without feeling over the top. A proper countryside pub with quality food and a great atmosphere. Would happily return.

Lydia Scullion Lovely meal and great service. Unfortunately we were one of the last tables to be seated so a couple of the main dishes had run out but a substitute was offered and the service was charming. Would definitely recommend.

Kylie Higgins Such a lovely brunch spot. This is our second time having breakfast and both occasions have been fantastic. The service was super friendly and the food was delicious. We had the French toast and the pancakes and they were both superb. Only tiny grumble would be to have some more of the lemon curd with the pancakes because it was so yum!

Ela Gorla Vel is one of my favourite restaurants in Brighton and one of the best South Indian restaurants I ever tried. I spent 5 months in South India in 2024 so when I moved to Brighton I was desperate to find a place where I could enjoy authentic South Indian food and I’m thrilled I discovered Vel. The food tastes exactly like the food I used to eat in India and the staff is very friendly. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for true Indian flavours.
