4 /5 H C: Great service, very attentive staff, excellent music.
We went for the Christmas Rat Pack event which included dinner. It was around £129 per head for a 2 course meal. This didn’t include drinks or service etc.
Things we noted -
- Starter (squid) - very good
- Main (Norfolk turkey and slow cooked beef) - Turkey was nice but could have done with more greens and the potatoes a little less well done. A Yorkshire pudding would have been welcomed too. The beef was very good
- Atmosphere - they could really have done with turning the lights down as it was quite bright. It was an evening event and would have helped with the atmosphere and the mood and made it feel cosy and special.
- Noise - it seemed that there were a number of groups of people that really weren’t there for the music and were making a lot of noise and talking. It was a shame because it felt it interfered with the atmosphere. It’s not the place to have a meal and lots of conversation, plenty of other establishments that can cater for those kind of groups. By doing so it can ruin it for the rest that have come for the atmosphere and love the music. It felt there was too much background noise and it’s not a cheap place for a night out.
- Music - Excellent, we saw Rat Pack Christmas, they were fabulous, just a shame there was so much background noise.
- Cost - Not cheap. We found it more expensive than a very well known club in Soho which we have been to for Christmas lunches for a number of years (3 course meal with live music). This was just 2 courses with 13.5%tip.
As I mentioned before the staff were fabulous and it’s a great venue. Just a few things that could make it a 5 star. The music was fantastic too, just need the staff to request that diners are respectful to others that have come to enjoy the experience. Also make the environment more cosy and special, felt too bright.
These are all things that can be rectified and once it has been we’d love to come back again.
