The Crown Inn Bar & Restaurant - Buckinghamshire

Steve Langton Tried out the new restaurant at the Crown. Had drinks in a lively bar, then an excellent meal in the restaurant. Id call it modern British, with some different touches (like the Middle Eastern spices in the Cumin Spiced Lamb Rump). Attentive service. Some quality wines on the list.will be going back with more friends soon

Duncan Farmer This is very very good food at a very reasonable price. There are many Indian restaurants nearer me but I frequently drive for half an hour to eat here. I love it

Henry Cairns-Terry Samantha was our host for the evening and looked after us really well. She even allowed us to try a wine we were not sure of. We ate off the Dine Out fixed price menu. The food was excellent and the ambience great. Great food, great value.

Bologa Sergiu The food and service was at another level. The tasting menu is versatile and surprised us with its originality. We went for a non alcoholic pairing and it was fantastic.

Ivan Lovegrove A (late) Sunday lunch for three of us, to include; shared starters of mixed breads and salt & pepper squid. A Pork Belly roast dinner, a Beef roast dinner and a Chicken and Bacon Caesar Salad for our main courses; the roasts with a generous complimentary glass of house wine. The history (15th century origins), aesthetics, authenticity and wealth of architectural details (both inside and out) are self-evident and certainly unique. The recent understated and classy refurbishment and décor still lets the history andnarrative of the building speak for itself. The team working today were personable, hospitable, attentive, patient and kind. The food was attractive to look at and quite simply delicious

Isra Rai Came here for lunch with a friend. We are aware that Amersham has many amazing pubs and restaurants so it was stiff competition but we were absolutely blown away and happy with our choice. The whole menu looked delicious and left us struggling to choose. We decided on ordering from the set menu as it was entirely reasonably priced (~25 per head) for three courses- by the end you really are full and satisfied. Of course accompaniments like bread and drinks also add to the cost, however these are well worth it. The sourdough bread with maple butter was a standout- the sourdough is made fresh and so is still warm and lovely- but the butter was the standout. As soon as we tasted it, we each ate an even half of the butter provided- it is so moreish and indescribably tasty. We actually ordered a second round of bread just for the butter! The wine was also great, and waiters came around to to top off our glasses with the carafe even though it was next to our table in an ice bucket- excellent service. I also recommend a coffee with alcohol for afters- it is the perfect way to end a meal. We both ordered the fishcake starter, the wagyu burger main, and sticky toffee pudding dessert. All three were magnificent and surprisingly generous portions- although the starter and dessert were not massive they are so high quality that they satisfy you better than large flavourless slabs of food that you find at other restaurants. The fishcake had a fabulous tartar like sauce, and you could tell that the fishcake itself was hearty and not full of filler like many fishcakes at other places. The wagyu burger comes with skinny fries which are much appreciated (neither of us are a fan of the chunky fries epidemic), and has a delicious smoky flavour from the sauce and cheese. It was a huge portion and we need a rest break after finishing that course! Yet was, again, amazingly high quality. The sticky toffee pudding was magnificent, with a really flavourful gingerbread ice cream and candied pecans that gave a satisfying texture. Ambience and service was excellent. Waitstaff were polite, attentive, and friendly, and the rustic interior is well heated and cozy- perfect for enjoying a meal. The whole experience is well worth the price, which I think is extremely fair for what you get. If youre looking for a high end place to go for good food, go here.
